December Happenings: Lucas is 2!

I know everyone loved the "Chinglish" blog post, but it's time to move on.  Between traveling, birthdays, holidays, home projects, and a new[ish] baby December was a very busy month for me.  On the 18th my firstborn, Lucas Zachary, turned 2!

I attempted to get the annual "holding the sign of how old you are next to the Christmas tree" photo.  Lucas insisted on holding a random handkerchief and did not get the point of the paper.

Other winning photo choices were ones where he "happily" showed me the sign:

 read the sign:
 and danced with the sign:
Overall, he's a very fun and cute almost 30 pound little boy:
And a loving older brother... most of the time:
My sister came over for a short bit on his birthday
Lucas loved the "tsukorok" (candy) that she brought, and of course the awesome spinning gear puzzle/game

He wouldn't let go of the candy and ended up looking like the joker
At grandma and grandpa's Lucas enjoyed pizza and some red velvet cupcakes.  Which were awesome to him mostly because they had fire and frosting on them.  (He did not eat the actual cake portion)

Overall, a very happy birthday for this little one.  Anya enjoyed the celebrations as well.

Chinglish

I came across a NY Times article (via another blog) about Chinglish and the confusion (and entertainment) that an English speaker might encounter abroad.

 [South Africa]
[Spain] -- looks kinda possible to me.

[Japan] "concerned not only about your safety, but also your dignity"
