No, I'm not referring to my two favorite men in the world (both live in my house!) I'm referring to the President of the United States.
Sure, I don't agree with all of this ideas, I don't agree with some of his priorities, and I don't agree with many of the things he has done -- but I generally like the man. Historically in this country, the president is elected to be the representative of the American people to the rest of the world, commander in chief of the armed forces, and head of the branch of government that executes laws. In the last 100 years the power of the president has grown enormously. Now people expect him to create laws and fix all of the problems that have accumulated due to the decisions and actions of thousands of people over decades. That is an unrealistic expectation. I could go on.
But what I wanted to share is that I just... have a really good feeling about this man, Barack Obama. I feel like, despite his imperfections, he genuinely wants to help our people, to do what's best for most and to keep in mind the minorities. I am proud to have him represent us to the world. He is well spoken, inspiring, compassionate, confident, and hard-working.
I know that half of the people who live here didn't vote for him. But right now, Barack Obama is the democratically elected president of this country. There's nothing that can be done about that for the next two years. I wish people would stop the destructive hatred and bickering and support this man in his very difficult job.
I like the things he said tonight. I like him (though would have probably voted for Hillary :)

Oh, and like YOU for posting this! Wish I had heard his address tonight, but unfortunately I was at a HOA meeting until 9:30 pm (started at 6:30 pm). I'll look it up online to watch it.
Along the lines of what you said about him being genuine in his intentions and his well meaning in what he's trying to do (in a variety of facets), well, I truly agree. There are politicians who are shady and you know it by their countenance and there are politicians who are legitimately trying to do the good they've sworn an oath to perform, but unfortunately have to rub elbows and associate with all of the other shady characters in politics—I'd definitely say he's the later. He's doing the best he can do and although we think we're informed (via the internet) on EVERYTHING that is going on in the oval office (well, we do have 24 and Jack Bauer as a resource of what's REALLY going on in DC for crying out loud) we are so clueless as to what it truly takes to be the President of the United States.
p.s. I would have still voted for Obama, because Hilary is doing more good where she is appointed in office than if she had become President.
*I* like YOU—time for bed. . .
if this were FB, i would click the "like" button 20 times if it let me.
you have obviously been brainwashed by Obama propaganda machine. Otherwise you would've seen all the dastardly tricks he threw into his SOU address. he said he would "work with anyone who has good ideas toward improving healthcare" what he really meant was anyone who "wants to charge Americans a lot more and socialize the greatest country with the greatest Healthcare system in the world".
Oh Zach. You think you're so funny. I can totally picture you writing that comment with a smirk.
