Having a hard time

I'm having a hard time blogging lately.  In the last few months I almost "shut down" the blog entirely because I felt it was so pointless.  Sure I write "for myself", but I can't deny that I (just as anyone who publishes anything) want somebody somewhere to be informed or entertained by the posts.  Sometimes I write something personal, but don't publish it because I'm nervous that it's too personal.  Sometimes I write something controversial, but I'm a little worried that I will offend people.  I used to think that I'm really confident but I'm starting to doubt that a little :)

If you visit my  blog once in a while but never leave a comment -- you should!  It would be so nice to know who is reading and what they are thinking.

Post edit:  I don't think I'm planning on making a book out of my blog because there is too much random information posted on here.  Maybe I can select random entries and then copy and paste into a book?

i still read your blog!

well i'm no pro at blogging so take my thoughts as you want, lol.

i totally understand about how blogging is a real time commitment and it is nice to get comments but really i do it for myself. the main purpose of my blog is to record the daily happenings and snapshots of what our life is like now. that's it at its most basic. sometimes i blog for what other people think or advice, sometimes to share recipes or links...but mostly it's for my family to have.

and i find when i stop worrying about pictures looking perfect or how to word something the right way, it just comes together. which is hard to do. i've noticed courtney has done a kick-butt job at that like when she posted the pictures from her disposable camera. they were fantastic pictures even though they weren't. and i don't think i've ever seen a bad picture from you EVER but if you had one....post it (if that's something that stops you from blogging sometimes).

Anyway, I'm just rambling. I hope you keep blogging because you have so much good stuff to share and a beautiful family. And I can't imagine you'll ever regret all the work you put into your blog down the road. :)

Don't stop! I read it (waving hands wildly). I need to be better about leaving comments. I read every one of your posts and love hearing about what you're up to. I actually have 2 or 3 drafts of posts that I started but decided against publishing because they were pretty personal and I was worried what people would think. It's hard for me to sensor myself sometimes because I am such an open book and I want to be "real" to people. The two big reasons I blog is 1) for me. I haven't been the best at keeping a journal like I used to and so I use my blog as my journal. 2) for friends and family. I love knowing what our friends and family are up to. I'm not the greatest at calling or emailing people to keep in touch, so blogs are the perfect solution. I love it. SO DON'T STOP! ;)

I read your blog! I tend to not comment on blogs because I feel like I talk too much as it is, and because typically when I do go to write a comment, it becomes an essay and then I decide to just scrap it... you know about my issues with brevity. I have done that a couple of times when I have tried to comment on your blog. Plus, since I see you frequently, I feel like I can often just talk to you one on one about something you have posted, or I feel like you might already know what I think about a topic. I personally think that controversial blog posts are fun, but as to things that are too personal or not, that is something that can only be decided by you, of course. If people do not like the things you are writing, they can always choose to not read it, right? For those who do, however, or who like to read the opinions of others despite differences, your thoughts and experiences can be added to their own for consideration. I think that is a good thing. And we all know you are opinionated, so what else would we expect? :) So no, I personally rarely comment on blogs, but know that I do read and enjoy yours - I am subscribed on Google Reader!

I'm with Jamie. I could almost say ditto and be done with it. I read you whenever you post. I do understand what you mean though. It is nice when people comment. Sometimes though I just don't know what to say but I read. I think we get so busy with all the other things that consume our time that we forget that we are still people and love to feel validated even if it is in the comment section of our blogs. I will be better about commenting. Being so many miles away, I love to keep in touch via blogging. So personal or not, keep them coming friend.

I read your blog! And I *love* it. I love how honest you are, and that you don't necessarily edit yourself. That's the beauty of a blog...you are allowed to voice your opinion! If people get offended then they can either ignore it and not take it personally, or stop reading it all together!

Keep writing :) I love reading it!

K. if you don't keep up with your sporadic posts I'll be on your porch with a can of "whoop a$$" faster than you can QUIT! And yes, I just used dollar signs to get away with cussing on your blog—so now I gave you another reason to post something. You're very welcome!

p.s. go personal AND controversial, and I promise the comments will come in like the floods of Noah's days. ;-D See ya on Wednesday, lady!
